Can I extract an IMS transaction from the IMS Log, and resubmit it to the IMS message queue? If so, how much flexibility do I have? Can I extract by date and time, by tran-code, by user-id, by other transaction content?

Yes you can do that. That#s the good messages. The bad news is that there are severl vendors around who charge for this function. You can look at IBM's 'Queue Control Facility' or something similar from other vendors.
If you don't need a flexible system you can write a program extracting the messages from the log and reinstert them to the Message Queue.
